The Tale of Hong Kong 香冮眾神傳

We all have our cultural products from our groups, cities, and society. Culture is one of the essential elements that shape our values, mindset, and behaviors. 

As the trend of people seeking self-exploration, economic activities & habits changes nowadays, understanding local deities is one of the ways to know our society. This will enhance people’s sense of identity and sense of belonging. It also strengthens their ability to cross-cultural awareness. 

So, popularizing local religions & myths in Hong Kong through modernizing myths for the young generation is the purpose of this project.

This project uses board games as a medium to draw the attention of local young people to folk beliefs, which is combined with a modern background setting. To raise the awareness of local deities, here is a game to introduce the basic knowledge for the new generation, e.g. stories, rituals & artifacts.

Immediately: As players learn while playing the game, they can gain a basic understanding of the culture from the stories & allusions. Inherits & promotes local culture either. In the Long Term: This will enhance players’ sense of identity and sense of belonging. It also strengthens their ability to cross-cultural awareness.

隨著人們對自我探索的追求日益增長,以及經濟活動和習慣的變化,了解當地的民間信仰,有助了解自身與社會間之連結。藉此增強人們的身份認同感和歸屬感,同時也提升他們的跨文化意識。

因此,通過現代化的神話來普及香港的地方宗教和神話,是這個項目的目的。

本項目使用桌遊作為媒介,吸引當地年輕人關注民間信仰,並結合現代背景設定。為了提高對當地神明的認識,這裡有一款遊戲來介紹新一代的基本知識,例如故事、儀式和文物。

以即時性來看,玩家在遊戲中學習的同時,能夠從故事和典故中獲得對文化的基本理解,繼承並推廣當地文化。

而長遠而言,盼能增強玩家的身份認同感和歸屬感,同時提升他們的跨文化意識。
