Gaa1, the Chinese pronunciation of “Home”. The Chinese word “home” consists of two radicals: housing and property, it represents the meaning of home and the behavior of people in ancient times. Chinese characters have a long history. Through the changes of the times, people’s life patterns also have changed. Is the meaning of home as simple as the original one? Can the meaning of the word “home”, which has been used for many years, be applied to today’s society?

In Hong Kong, everyone has a home as soon as they are born, but everyone’s home is different. What exactly “home” is? And what does “home” include? This project reflects the face and values of “home” through the stories of 20 interviewees, and re-explores how the word “home” should be formed in Hong Kong today. ­

These 20 stories will be displayed in books, supplemented by illustrations to help you find a different “Gaa1”, hoping to make Hong Kong people reflect on the existence of home and cherish what they have.

「家」這字由宀 (居屋)和豕 (豬、財產)組成，代表家的含意及古代的人行為。漢字歷史悠久，源用多年的「家」字的意思又是否可以套用至現今社會？

在香港，家與生俱來，每人都擁有，但每人的家又不盡相同。究竟怎樣才算是家？而你的家又包括了甚麼？作品透過20個受訪者的故事反映出「家」的面貌及價值觀，重新探求「家」這字在現今香港應如何構成。

這20個故事會以書本展示，並輔以插圖帶你尋找不同的「家」，希望藉此令香港人反思家的存在，更加珍惜所擁有。
