The White Box Movement

Studies have shown that although people are opposed to sacrificing animals’ lives for consumer products testing, they are rarely aware of it and take action when shopping. We need to be different from the typical approach to change the current situation.

‘THE WHITE BOX’ is a four-month pilot project aimed at promoting Hong Kong cruelty-free movement. The objective is to raise the public’s awareness of the use of animals in consumer products for testing and turn their opposition to these cruel experiments into substantive action. Promote Hong Kong to take the first step in the entire cruelty-free movement process.

We use ‘THE WHITE BOX” as a strategy to respond to the objective of the project. The consistent and straightforward slogan ‘Look through the white box’ with simplicity and clean design aesthetics to pay various symbolic meanings of the white box pattern at different phases. The approach is to laser-focus on making the white box into a recognisable and powerful symbol to represent the idea behind it, reminding people to check the product label before buying and choose cruelty-free products that do not test on animals.

By completing this project, we expect that the target audience will raise awareness of purchasing cruelty-free products. So that market share in Hong Kong will continue to expand and gather sufficient motivation to promote the Hong Kong cruelty-free movement to the next stage.
