aeternal

“In your memories, 'I' still shine.”

aeternal is an interactive storytelling project that explores the complex emotional landscape of grief, memory, and healing, with a focus on atomic metaphors. Inspired by the book What to Do When I’m Gone by Suzy Hopkins. Also, uses the idea of atoms as a metaphor for continuity beyond death. Symbolising how love and memories transform, persist, and connect.

Aimed at young people coping with the loss of a loved one, the project provides them with emotional support through a virtual space that promotes introspection, connection, and creative expression. Users are invited to participate in the story through interactive elements such as clicking on notebooks, photo frames, or dandelion seeds, which provide visual and auditory senses. Through these interactions and metaphors, users can also represent the invisible presence of memories and loved ones.

In the story, the protagonist Lyra discovers a notebook left by her late mother. The notes in the notebook describe how her mother will be part of the world even after her death, existing in atoms, memories, and subtle things such as a cup of coffee or a floating dandelion seed. Inspired by scientific ideas such as atomic theory and the conservation of mass, each chapter takes users on a journey from grief to hope and resilience.

aeternal invites users to find a sense of connection, healing, and understanding through an innovative fusion of art, science, and personal reflection.

What to Do When I’mGone啟發,並以原子作為超越死亡的延續性的隱喻,象徵著愛與記憶如何轉化、延續和連結。
