《港嘢》
by Leung Hiu Man, Carmen

Did you ever come up a verb or a phrase that you did not know the origin of, but used out of habit? That is the reason I choose the topic of collective unconscious as my final year project. I discovered that there are some habits that we speak naturally without any reason which make me wonder why and where does it came from and how does it become part of our life. So this is how my project began.
The book《港嘢》is pronounced ‘gong yeah.’ It’s a pun on the word 「 港 」and「講」, which sound the same in Cantonese. Together, the title can refer to ‘Hong Kong stuff’ and ‘speaking’ at the same time.
This project was created for Hong Kong people as not everyone is familiar with our own culture. I hope they appreciate it more after reading this book, as I have collected different interesting myths and stories about Hong Kong which have been bundled into four books respectively to cover our basic needs: clothing, dining, living, and travelling.
