“I want to eat durian”

Duration: 7mins30s

Although Hong Kong is a diverse society, discrimination and prejudice against homosexuality are still happening. The stereotypes of society make

them afraid to express themselves in front of others. They used to cater to others’ expectations and live for others and finally lead to lost self-confidence. However, some of them have the opposite idea. They believe in themselves and live for themselves.

This artwork is an animation and used a story to express the difference between the above two ideas, and also compare durian eaters to homosexuals which is because they are similar. Some people like it, and some people hate it. However, there is no right or wrong between eating durian and being gay. Instead of caring about others and wronging yourself, it is better to change your mind, cherish yourself, and believe in your own uniqueness. Even if you are different and not belongs to the majority, you can still be proud of yourself!
