Idle Moments
by Lam Tsz Ming, Gary

Idleness seems negative. However, according to the studies in neuroscience, our brains will be stimulated or even active during ‘Idle moments’ which could be good for designers’ creativity.
I have been a designer for years. We are used to being busy and struggling for ideas everyday. We know how to leave ‘white space’ for our artworks, but may not know to leave some for our brains.
Therefore, I execute the book using an analog tool such as pen, paper and book that can ease our mind. Keeping away from our electronic devices, like mobile phones temporarily, We are really used to using them to kill time. But, it just keeps our brains busy.
Moreover, according to studies, always being busy can kill our creativity. The purpose of this book set is to provide some interesting small tasks to ease our mind. The book is using the more interactive way, scanimation, it is more interesting and dynamic. Also, doodle arts are included that could let us relax and free our minds. Each task takes a few minutes during a break in the office. It encourages us to do it as a routine, letting our brains have the space to rest. Let us get into the ‘idle moments.’
