膠UP!

Plastic bottles, a symbol of urban development, is a revolutionary invention with lasting influences. Plastic bottles have brought much convenience to our daily life. However, the convenience is at the expense of the planet earth. Insensibly, our “habitat” disappears. Like poaching a frog in lukewarm water, we are unknowingly paying for the price of environmental damage. Is this a progression, or regression?
In my work, the mountain-like plastic bottles are stacked to create a “thumbs-up” gesture. At the same time, the bottles are dissolving. The creation reflects on the dilemma of using plastic bottles: the extensive use of plastic bottle has improved our quality of life while our “habitat” disappears in the flood of plastic waste.
膠樽,是城市進步的一大標誌,是一項極具影響性和革命性的發明,它便利了我們日常生活。然而,這種便利以我們的星球作代價。不知不覺中,我們的「棲息地」將逐漸消失。有如溫水煮蛙,你和我都正在埋單。這是進步,還是退步?作品中,堆積如山的膠樽形成「讚好」手勢。同時,它們卻慢慢溶解。反映出膠樽的廣泛使用雖令我們生活質素提升,可是泛濫的膠樽溶解同時,我們的「棲息地」也一同消失。
