People often cling on to different relationships to affirm our values. But once the relationships are built, the tensions in between are like the adhesiveness found in tapes, both hard to get rid of, even it’s no longer desired.‘Disengage’ is to break this myth.It was also my intent to imagine and visualise how tapes can assist us in detaching from unwanted burdens. As the gleam of light from our egos passes by the curly ends of each tape stripe, let this be a reminder on how precious it is to gain back our self-awareness. Only by shaking off unnecessarily attached relationships, we can finally pry into our true selves.
人們經常以不同的關係來肯定自身的價值。但關係一旦被建立，兩者之間的張力就像膠紙中的粘性一樣，一旦黏上，便難以分離。「脫離」就是來打破這個意識的。我的作品以膠帶比喻關係：一層層膠帶正如一段段關係，覆蓋著自我。一塊塊捲曲的膠帶之間透著微光，像在提醒我們不要迷失自我。當膠帶逐塊剝落，我們才能慢慢窺探到真正的自我。藉著作品意象，「脫離」鼓勵大家不要喪失自我意識；勇於擺脫不必要的關係，忠於自己。
